9 to 10 Months: Gliding Through Milestones: Baby's Physical and Cognitive Growth

Your baby now wants full participation in his environment, he wants to interact with you and be part of you. Development at a glance (9 to 10 months):

At the age of 9 to 10 months, babies make great progress in their development and demonstrate many new skills. Here are some important milestones and developments typical for babies this age:

  • Motor skills: Babies become increasingly mobile and may be able to crawl or otherwise move around. They may also begin to pull themselves up on furniture and stand, and some may even be able to take their first steps.

  • Grasping and manipulating: Fine motor skills continue to improve, and babies can grasp and manipulate objects more specifically. You can try holding small objects between your thumb and forefinger and examining them.

  • Language development: Language development progresses and babies may be able to make their first words or sounds. They can try to imitate sounds and can understand when you use certain words or instructions.

  • Social interaction: Babies become more active in their social interaction and begin to engage with other people more consciously. They can try to communicate with you and respond in different ways such as smiling, laughing, and pointing.

  • Exploration of the environment: Babies are very curious about their surroundings and continue to explore them intensively. You can start specifically searching for, examining, and discovering items. They will also begin to try simple problem-solving to get to objects that interest them.

  • Sleep patterns: Sleep patterns may continue to stabilize, and many babies begin to sleep through longer periods. You may also develop a more regular sleep schedule and wake up less frequently during the night.

It is important to note that each baby develops individually and reaches milestones at their own pace.

For example, your child can experiment with water with the bath animals, the wooden tissue box will train fine motor skills in a playful way and the rainbow with its special feel offers a variety of indoor and outdoor play options.

  • Promotes motor skills
  • Promotes mobility
  • Trains coordination and balance

    The Rainbow

    What?

The rainbow stacking toy is a very popular Montessori material, traditionally made of wood. However, we have decided to deviate slightly from the classic model because at this age the individual wooden bows are still too heavy for the children and it is difficult for them to handle them. The innovative food grade silicone material makes it much easier for your child to play with.

    How?

Your child will be thrilled by the feel of the individual stacking sheets alone, as they are very flexible and feel very comfortable. This means that the gaming possibilities are almost limitless. Of course you can stack the individual sheets in the classic way, but your child will definitely develop some other play options too ;)

    Why?

Playing with the rainbow stacking game not only promotes your child's sensory perception, but also strengthens their motor skills. In addition, your child's imagination and creativity are trained through the various play options (tunnel to drive through with a toy car).

    Wooden box

    What?

The paperback book box is made from 100% sustainable wood and is very easy to open.

    How?

Your child can put objects in this box and you can take them out together. Children of this age enjoy interacting with everyday objects (like tissue boxes). Your child has probably seen you pulling tissues/facial tissues or wet wipes out of the box, so he or she is probably already familiar with this process. Place the box in front of your child, let them first explore the wipes and the box in peace, then you can show them how to put the wipes in the box. This toy will keep your child entertained for hours and motivate them to put other items in the box too ;)

    Why?

The wooden box is designed to refine your baby's fine motor skills. The box also encourages your child's urge to explore, because it's very exciting for your child to see what's in the box and how they get these things out again. The play material also activates your child's autonomy and spirit of initiative. Here, too, your child will feel self-efficacy when they put things in the box independently.

    Cotton towels

    What?

The cloths made from 100% organic cotton are versatile.

    How?

You can play peek-a-boo with the cloths in the classic way or hide things underneath. Also Babies of this age like to chew on cloths, and since the cloths are made of organic cotton, they are ideal for this. They are also ideal for putting in the wooden box.

    Why?

Cloths are so versatile and can be used

    wooden car

    What?

The toy car, made from sustainable and untreated wood, has an extra holder (adapted to the child's hand) so that your child can use the car ideally.

    How?

Move the car back and forth in your child's field of vision to motivate him to do the same. It's completely normal that your child will initially explore the car extensively, including with their mouth, but thanks to the material, that's not a problem at all.

    Why?

Everything that he can turn, push, push (forward and backward) is interesting for your baby. That's why the wooden car is the ideal companion for this age. Moving the car back and forth not only promotes your child's fine motor skills, but also eye-hand coordination. This will also encourage your child to move because they will want to follow the car.

    Wooden ring game

    What?

The classic colorful ring stacking game made from sustainable wood will be a lot of fun for your child.

    How?

The goal of this game is to stack the individual rings on top of each other, but your child will first find many other ways to engage with the rings. Place the plug-in game in your child's activity area and show him how to take the rings off and put them back on. Give the rings to your child and let them explore them extensively.

    Why?

This promotes your child's fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Since the rings are very large, it will be easier for your child to put them on. If you manage to do that, it will be a great sense of achievement for your child, which will also promote your child's self-efficacy. Successfully matching will also give your child self-confidence.

    Water toys animals

    What?

The animals made of food silicone are ideal for water features, but can also be easily used for other purposes ;) They can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher or boiled.

    How?

The size of each animal is tailored to the size of a baby/toddler's hand. The rotating clasp can be easily opened and closed. The holes in the bottom parts make them perfect for water features. But thanks to their pleasant feel, your child will also play with them outside of the bathtub.

    Why?

You can easily take it into the bathtub with you, or fill it with water on hot summer days and offer your child pleasant refreshment. But even without water, your child can use the little screw animals to strengthen their fine motor skills and hand muscles by opening and closing them. Due to the different possibilities of the animals. On particularly hot days you can put an ice cube in the containers, your child will have a lot of fun with it.
